Brother Drum Reset Instructions


Brother DR 520 Drum reset procedure

To reset: Make sure the machine is turned on and the drum LED is blinking. Open the front cover. Press and hold the "Go" button for four seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all the LEDs are lit, release the "Go" button. Close the front cover. The counter is reset.

Drum Life Low warning: Drum light blinking, Green Status Light on: Drum life over soon—around 6% life remaining (1500p)—printer does not stop at any point. Status page, if printed, will show 0% life left. End user can continue to use the Drum unit as long as they’re happy with the print quality.

MFC or DCP printers with a LCD display utilizing the DR520 Drum Unit

If the LCD shows Drum Near End, the drum unit is near the end of its life and it is time to buy a new one. Even if the LCD shows Drum Near End, you may be able to continue printing without having to replace the drum unit for a while. However, if there is a noticeable deterioration in the output print quality (even before Drum Near End appears), then the drum unit should be replaced.

Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the machine.

A. Do not close the front cover.

B. Press Clear/Back until you see: “Replace Drum?”

a 1.Yes

b 2.No

Select “Yes” & OK

To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.

C. When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.

Brother DR 600 Drum reset procedure

Open front cover, press & hold the “GO” BUTTON UNTIL “drum clear” is displayed, release button, and close front cover

Brother DR-350 Drum reset procedure

Leave door open -- hold the green “GO” button down which is located on the top of the printer until all lights cycle through and stay lit.

Release the button--close the door--lights should go out

Note: The DR350 Drum can not be reset until the "Replace Drum Warning" has been received. You can not remove a Drum unit half way through its life, then install a new Drum Unit and expect to reset the counter. It can not be done.

Mfc-7420 w/LCD

Open the front door. Press the Options key on the control panel until the display shows "REPLACE DRUM - 1.YES 2.NO". Press 1 to reset the drum count. Close the front door.

Mfc-7420 w/LCD

Open the front door. Press the Options key on the control panel until the display shows "REPLACE DRUM - 1.YES 2.NO". Press 1 to reset the drum count. Close the front door.

Brother DR-360 Drum reset procedure

HL SERIES: Put the drum unit into the printer leaving the door open. Press and hold the white "GO" button until all the LED's cycle through and light up. Close the front door. (Note: same as the DR-350 instructions) MFC SERIES: Put drum unit in the printer leaving the front door open. Press CLEAR/BACK. Press "1" to confirm your replacing the drum. Close the front door. DCP SERIES: Put the drum unit into the printer leaving the front door open. Press CLEAR/BACK. Press "UP ARROW" until the LCD shows "ACCEPTED". Close the front door.

Brother DR-500 Drum reset procedure

Leave the printer on. Install the new drum unit with the toner cartridge into the machine, keeping the front cover open. Press and hold the "GO" button for 4 seconds. The display will show "Drum clear". Close the front cover. The drum unit is reset.

Brother DR-620 Drum reset procedure

Laser Printers: make sure the printer is turned on and the drum LED is blinking. Open the cartridge front door. Press and hold the GO button for 4 seconds until all your LEDs come to life. When all of these are lit up, release the GO button. Close the door and the counter is now reset.

DCP Machines: once replacement of the drum unit takes place, keep the front door open and power is on. Push CLEAR/BACK on the display panel. Confirm you are using a new by pressing the UP ARROW key. This will bring up ACCEPTED, close the cover and the counter is reset.

MFC Machines: Replace the old drum and keep the front cover open and be sure power is on. Press CLEAR/BACK on your display panel. confirm a new drum is being used by pressing 1, and look for the work ACCEPTED to come up. Close the front cover and the counter is reset.

Brother DR400/DR510 Drum reset procedures

Laser Printers: Once the Drum Life has ended the printer will not operate until the Drum Counter has been Reset. Open front cover. Hold down (GO) button located under LED's until all LED's are lit. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then close cover.

Factory Reset: Turn the printer off. Hold in the circular "GO" button on the front panel of the printer. Turn the printer back on. When the drum light is lit by itself let go of the button. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again. Once the alarm light comes on let go of the button. This has performed a factory rest on the printer.

Fax & DCP Machines: Open the front cover. Press the "CLEAR/BACK" button. Press 1 when the display shows "ACCEPTED". Close the front cover. The counter is now reset.

MFC 9700 ONLY: Leave the machine on. Install a new drum unit with the toner cartridge into the machine, keeping the front cover open. Press the right "Arrow" key. Display will show replace drum? 1.Yes 2.No. Press "1". The display will show accepted, close the front cover. The drum unit is reset.

Brother DR420 Drum reset procedure

For the HL-XXXX-Install the toner cartridge into the new/remanufactured drum unit. With the front door still open, press and hold the "GO" button for 5 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all four LEds are lit, release "GO". Close the front cover.

For the MFC make sure the machine is on and open the front cover. Press the clear or clear\back button. If your printer has a numeric keypad press 1 to reset the counter. If no keypad press the up arrow. When the LCD reads accepted close the front door.

DR 700 Drum reset procedure

Open front cover, press and hold the “GO” button for 4 seconds or more until the drum resets, release button, close front cover.

DR-720 drum reset procedure

  1. Make sure that the machine is turned on.

  2. Open the front cover.

  3. Press Clear button.

  4. To confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.

  5. When the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover of the machine.

Touch Screen Models

  1. Press Stop/Exit to interrupt the error temporarily.

  2. Press Menu.

  3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Machine Info., Then Press Machine Info.

  4. Press Reset Menu.

  5. Press Drum.

  6. The machine will display “Reset Drum?”

Press Yes, and then press Stop/Exit.
